Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) nurse position available in a high-acuity cardiovascular surgical intensive care unit. Located in the Sacramento area, this role involves providing specialized critical care to postoperative cardiac and vascular surgery patients. The position requires a proactive approach and confidence in managing complex cases.

Position Description:
This role involves working in a 20-bed Cardiovascular Surgical ICU with a focus on post-operative care, including patients with CABG, LVADs, Empallas, IABP, TAVRs, and CRRT. The nurse will work a 12-hour night shift, starting at 5:45 PM, with responsibilities including patient assessment, interpretation of EKG strips, vent management, and collaboration with hospitalist or intensivist staff. The position requires adherence to pathway protocols and active participation in necessary certifications and team activities.
Required Qualifications:
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; Location requirements: Candidates must have 2 full years of experience in CVICU and have completed at least one travel assignment in the specialty. Education: Basic nursing qualifications as per licensing standards. Experience: Minimum of 2 years in CVICU. Shift: 12-hour night shifts, with a schedule of 36 hours per week.
Candidates must successfully complete the UNA DYS exam within 24-48 hours prior to signing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with LVADs, proficiency in reading and interpreting EKG strips, experience in high-acuity cardiovascular cases, and prior travel experience.
Additional Information:
Candidates should be confident in asking for help when needed, able to work all assigned cases, and accommodate the high-acuity environment without special accommodations. The position involves self-scheduling, float to other facilities as needed, and rotating holiday and weekend shifts.
