Dialysis and Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse with a dual background in Dialysis and Medical Surgical nursing for an inpatient setting in Kealakekua, Hawaii. This role is crucial for providing specialized care to adult patients requiring both acute dialysis treatments and comprehensive medical-surgical interventions.
The successful candidate will manage the full spectrum of patient care, from initial assessment and treatment planning to direct intervention and ongoing monitoring. This includes administering dialysis treatments, managing patient responses, and delivering general medical-surgical nursing care within a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.
This is a 13-week travel assignment offering an opportunity to contribute to patient well-being in a dynamic healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care to individuals requiring dialysis and medical-surgical interventions.
Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments, including hemodialysis.
Assess patient conditions, identify changes, and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, nephrologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as an inpatient Dialysis Registered Nurse.
Demonstrated experience in Medical Surgical nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using the NxStage System one dialysis machine with the Cartridge 505 closed system.
Previous experience in precepting or clinical education.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in hemodialysis procedures and patient management.
Strong medical-surgical nursing skills, including patient assessment, medication administration, and wound care.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot dialysis equipment.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for patient, family, and team interactions.
Ability to adapt to fast-paced and dynamic clinical environments.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
