Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Facility Hardstops:

• Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Massachusetts (MA) State RN License held in hand at submission.
• Experience Baseline: Minimum 1+ year of dedicated Chronic / Acute Hemodialysis clinical nursing experience.
• Core Certification Required: Active AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Clinical Scope: Verified expertise in hemodialysis machine setup, vascular access cannulation (AV fistulas/grafts), central line dialysis catheter care, and fluid balance management.
• Flexibility & Call Commitment: Must accept variable day shift start times and participate in the unit's on-call rotation.
• Housing Rules: Must agree to facility-provided shared housing guidelines.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Hospital in Nantucket, MA is seeking an experienced, highly autonomous Dialysis Registered Nurse for a 15-week critical assignment in Dialysis (NCH035). Serving an isolated island community 30 miles at sea, the RN will provide critical chronic and acute hemodialysis treatments, monitor patient stability during ultrafiltration, manage vascular access, and handle call coverage for urgent dialysis interventions.

• Hemodialysis Treatment Execution: Initiate, monitor, and terminate chronic and acute hemodialysis treatments using standardized extracorporeal circuits and dialysis equipment.
• Vascular Access Management: Perform expert cannulation of AV fistulas and AV grafts; manage hemodialysis central venous catheters using strict sterile technique.
• Intra-Dialytic Patient Care: Monitor vital signs, fluid removal rates, and blood chemistry; manage acute complications such as hypotension, muscle cramping, or equilibrium syndrome during treatments.
• Acute On-Call Responsibilities: Maintain readiness for emergency on-call coverage to deliver acute bedside dialysis treatments for hospital inpatients or emergency room admissions.
