- Shift Schedule: Nights, 1900-0700, with a 12-hour shift cycle and a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certified as a Registered Nurse (RN) with BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications; minimum 2 years of emergency room experience in trauma-level environments; must possess and maintain valid licensure for practicing nursing in the state of Kentucky.
- Patient Population: All ages including infants, geriatrics, and unhoused patients; common diagnoses include heart failure, GI bleeds, trauma from motor vehicle accidents and gunshot wounds, sepsis, respiratory issues, and post-transplant complications.
- Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-5
- Skills Required: IV placement, Foley and NG tube insertion, neurological assessment with NIHSS, triage, code response, initiation and titration of pressors, cardiac drips, sedation, insulin therapy, hyper/hypothermia management, bedside procedural assistance, moderate sedation (versed, fentanyl, ketamine).
- Support Available: 24/7 charge nurse and management, ER physicians and midlevel providers, U/S competent staff RN, RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and in-department CT/X-ray.
- Technology/Equipment: Cerner electronic medical record system, IV pumps, Phillips monitors, U/S equipment, VAD available.
- Orientation: 2 days of unit-specific orientation in the Emergency Department.
- Floating: No floating required.
- Other Notes: Scrub color is royal blue; free parking with garage access.
