Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in emergency nursing, with a passion for providing high-quality care to patients across various age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with diverse medical conditions in the emergency department.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Perform triage assessments and prioritize patient needs effectively.
• Document all patient interactions and maintain accurate medical records.
• Ensure compliance with established protocols, policies, and legal regulations.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their families during critical situations.
• Respond to emergency situations and assist with life-saving procedures when necessary.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and NIH Stroke Scale.
• A minimum of two years of experience in emergency nursing is required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Ability to work night shifts, including every other weekend and holiday requirements.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Patient Care Environment

• Patient Population: A diverse range from pediatrics to geriatrics.
• Average Daily Census: 30 patients.
• Total Beds: 40.
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4.
• Primarily caring for patients with respiratory issues, cardiac concerns, chest pain, myocardial infarctions, strokes, and other critical conditions.
• Limited trauma cases; however, encounters with motor vehicle accidents and fractures may occur.
• Should be comfortable managing psychiatric patients as part of the caseload, with collaboration from the inpatient psychiatric unit.

Schedule and Hours

This position requires a commitment to working three or four 12-hour night shifts (19:00 - 07:30), including every other weekend and observing holiday requirements. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated, and any special scheduling requests should be submitted at the time of application.

Contract Details

The initial contract length is six weeks, with a possible end date of November 14, 2026.
