Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse - Alexandria, VA. This position involves providing high-quality emergency care in a busy community emergency department with 27 beds. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in emergency nursing, with relevant certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association. The shift is 12 hours, primarily nights, with weekend and holiday rotations. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated team in a high-acuity environment, ensuring excellent patient outcomes.

Job Details:

  • Location: Alexandria, VA
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with up to 5-6 weekend shifts over a 6-week schedule.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications including BLS, ACLS, and PALS from the American Heart Association; 2+ years experience in emergency nursing; community emergency room experience preferred; current licensure for practicing in Virginia.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a stroke center; ability to float as needed; familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system.
  • Additional Information: No on-call required; weekends vary; staff may choose to pick up additional shifts. Holiday shifts include one major and one minor holiday, typically summer and winter. No float requirements; staff work their designated units unless otherwise specified.
