Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level II Trauma experience and AL or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Level II Trauma ED functioning at Level I acuity with 71 beds
• Patient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, pediatric, and psychiatric cases
• Patient ratios of 1:4 in ED, 1:5 for MS holds, and 1:3 for ICU holds
• Unit support includes CNA (1:12), charge nurse, HUC/receptionist, phlebotomy until 0300, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist coverage
• No telemetry monitoring tech on unit
• EMR is Cerner; IV pumps are Plum 360; medication dispensing via Omnicell; monitors are Spacelabs
• 12-hour night shifts on a 36/48 schedule, with shift start options of 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, and 3p-3a
• 4-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation required (every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month on block schedule)
• No floating required
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license (AL or Compact) required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, and Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JCAHO accepted)
• At least 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ER, or MS hold), with the most recent year in a Level II ER
• Level II Trauma (or higher) experience required
• Cerner or Epic experience preferred
• Skills required include trach care, vent care, ICU drip management, chest tube, arterial line, CVL, PICC, midline, port, foley, splint/ortho device application and care, BiPAP/HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigation

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of high-acuity patient conditions
• New travelers to the facility, or returning travelers absent 1+ years, receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours on the unit
• Holiday coverage required for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved in advance, excluding facility blackout dates
• Scrub color must be a solid color
• Parking available in a parking garage
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• First-time travelers considered with qualifying experience
• Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being eligible to return as a traveler
