Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department setting with mixed/shared acuity levels at a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform phlebotomy and IV placement as mandatory competencies required for all RNs in this role
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, continuous IV paralytics, and procedural sedation
• Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, CVA, and those requiring blood product administration
• Maintain central line care and management, and adhere to isolation precautions
• Float to other units when census warrants

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license required — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of emergency department experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience is a hard requirement
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Minimal time-off requests — no more than 10 days of RTO during the assignment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a combined adult/pediatric emergency department environment
• Familiarity with procedural sedation administration and management of CVA patients
• Experience with IV vasopressors and continuous IV paralytics in an acute care setting
