Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position involves providing professional nursing care in accordance with established standards and practices within the emergency department. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) will assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, and evaluate patient care outcomes across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics. The RN will also manage on-call assignments in response to varying patient volumes due to community events.

Shift Information

Evening Shift - 12 hours (1045-2315 and/or 1445-0315)

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), with renewals every two years.
• Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

• Ability to function effectively as a team member and serve as a liaison between patients and staff.
• Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
• Professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Possess mental and emotional resilience to handle challenging situations with patience and sensitivity.

Essential Functions

• Conduct thorough triage of all patients entering the emergency care system, determining the priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs.
• Develop and implement an individualized plan of care that adapts to the ongoing assessment of patient conditions.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment for patient care.
• Manage a range of complications and emergencies in accordance with established protocols and standards.
• Document all patient responses to interventions and facilitate effective medical care.
• Provide health education to patients and their families, ensuring they understand treatment plans and discharge instructions.

Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
