Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Emergency Department at Parkview Regional Medical Center, a verified Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring strong emergency nursing skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to care for both adult and pediatric patients.
The department utilizes a Team Nursing model to promote efficient patient flow and coordinated care across the emergency care team.

Department Layout
The ED features an L-shaped layout consisting of:
- 23 non-monitored single rooms
- 13 monitored rooms, with capacity for 2 patients when needed
- 4 resuscitation bays for critical trauma and medical patients
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients
- Perform rapid assessments, triage, and ongoing reassessments
- Prioritize care according to patient acuity
- Respond to medical and traumatic emergencies
- Provide emergency interventions and stabilization
- Monitor patients and recognize changes in clinical condition
- Administer medications and treatments safely
- Document patient care accurately in EPIC
- Utilize Pyxis for medication administration
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, technicians, and other interdisciplinary team members
- Support efficient patient flow using the department's Team Nursing model
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and patient-centered emergency care
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current Indiana or Compact RN License
- Strong emergency nursing and critical-care assessment skills
- Experience caring for both adult and pediatric emergency patients preferred
Required Certifications
- BLS – AHA – Required
- ACLS – AHA – Required
- PALS – AHA – Required
- TNCC or ATCN – Required
- NIHSS – Strongly Preferred
Schedule
- All shifts are possible
- Travelers should be flexible regarding shift assignment based on departmental staffing needs
- Floating to other units is not required
Parkview Assignment Details
- Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles; regular bill rate is reduced by 12%, with rate multipliers applied to the reduced regular bill rate
- Call-Off Policy: Facility may call off/cancel up to 24 hours per 13-week assignment
- Orientation: 8 hours are non-billable and guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
- Clinicians returning within 12 months of their last worked date are not eligible for non-billable orientation
Orientation & Training
Parkview provides department-specific orientation to familiarize travelers with the Emergency Department's workflow, Team Nursing model, documentation systems, medication administration processes, and facility protocols.
