Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position at a critical access hospital, requiring a ME or compact RN license and at least 1 year of ED experience.

Details

• 15-bed critical access hospital with no trauma designation
• Emergency Department with 10 M/S, 5 Tele, and 4 ED beds
• Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics, including abdominal pain, CHF, chest pain, trauma, respiratory illness, seizures, and admitted holds
• RN patient ratio of 1:4 on both shifts, acuity dependent, backed up by cross-trained Med-Surg RNs
• Night shift schedule from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Holiday coverage required for at least 1-2 holidays based on rotation
• Floating to Med/Tele patients required as needed, though normally limited
• On-unit orientation of 3-4 days, no formal hospital orientation
• Uses Cerner EMR, Alaris IV Pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE Monitors, Hamilton T1 Ventilators, and LifePak 20 Defibrillators

Requirements

• Active RN license (ME State or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS; TNCC and NRP preferred
• Minimum 1 year of ED experience required, 2 years preferred
• Skills required include managing ICU hold overs, insulin and cardiac/vasoactive drips, central lines, BiPap, ventilator settings (with MD oversight), procedural sedation, RSI levels, and triaging

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced ED setting supported by charge nurses, phlebotomy services, and nursing supervisors
• Charge nurse carries a patient assignment and provides support on the unit
• No respiratory therapists on-site
• Overtime shifts are typically available
• Scrubs must be a solid, professional color
