Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse in the Emergency Room at a healthcare facility. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients with high-acuity conditions, including trauma, stroke, chest pain, and other emergent diagnoses, in a fast-paced environment. The position requires a passion for emergency medicine, strong teamwork, and compassionate patient care.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license, two years of experience in emergency department nursing, certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), and workplace violence training (HSS Team).
  • Additional Qualifications: ED experience with high-acuity patient care, proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record system, and IV pump management (Alaris).
  • Position Notes: Candidates must pass a skills exam during orientation with a 90% score to avoid termination. Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in clinical areas.
  • Shift & Scheduling: Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a flexible RTO (requested time off) policy requiring upfront approval for up to 7 days.
  • Department Details: Acute care setting with a Level STEMI Receiving Stroke Center, 18 beds/trauma bays, nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 based on acuity.
  • Patient Demographics & Conditions: All age groups with diagnoses including chest pain, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, ENT emergencies, behavioral health issues, sepsis, and stroke.
  • Clinical Operations: Use of TeleHealth, focus on purposeful patient rounding, charge nurse on each shift who participates in patient assignments, no floating requirement, and dress code in navy blue scrubs.
  • Additional Notes: Three shifts of unit-specific orientation (2 shifts). Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.

  • Start Date: 10/26/2026, End Date: 01/25/2027.
