Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical Float Pool / ED Holds – Night Shift | Trenton, NJ

Join an experienced hospital float pool team as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) supporting ED Holds and medical-surgical units across designated campuses in Trenton, New Jersey. This 8-week nursing contract offers the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a collaborative hospital environment while working with a diverse patient population. Located in New Jersey’s historic state capital, Trenton provides convenient access to major metropolitan areas, cultural attractions, and scenic Delaware River communities.

Medical-Surgical RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
• Assignment Duration: 8 weeks
• Start Date: November 10, 2026
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Healthcare Setting: On-site hospital float pool
• Floating: May float between designated campuses and to any medical-surgical unit or ED Holds area as needed
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Navy blue

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical or Telemetry RN experience
• Active New Jersey RN license or Compact RN license at the time of submission
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications
• Flu vaccination required; declinations are not accepted
• Ability to work 12-hour nights, every other weekend, and every other holiday
• Strong adaptability and willingness to float among assigned medical-surgical units and campuses
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care in a fast-paced hospital environment

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients in medical-surgical units and ED Holds
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate clinical outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring patients for changes in condition
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Cerner
• Adapt efficiently to changing assignments and float to designated units based on patient-care needs
• Follow unit, hospital, and infection-prevention standards while maintaining a professional clinical environment
• Make up any scheduled shift missed due to a call-off within the same week when permitted by the assignment schedule
