Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position within a high-volume, fast-paced ER. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of patient demographics, ranging from neonates to geriatrics, while managing multiple complex diagnoses.

Position Details

  • Contract Length: 12 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12 Night shifts (20:00 - 08:30)
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirements: Required as scheduled
  • Floating: Required within the specialty, including the ER hold/Obs unit as needed

Patient Care Environment

  • ER Patient Ratio: 1:4, with the ability to increase to 1:5 for lower acuity situations
  • Number of ER Rooms/Beds: 66
  • Average Census: Approximately 200
  • Patient Diagnoses: Non-trauma ER with multiple complex diagnoses
  • ER Hold/Obs Unit: 10-bed unit with staff ratios of 1:5, potentially increasing to 1:6 for lower acuity patients

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience required; first-time travelers accepted with strong emergency department experience
  • Licenses/Certifications Required:
    • RN state license (MD)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Scale certification
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
  • EMR System: Experience with EPIC preferred
