Registered Nurse / Emergency Room

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Room team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

Patient Ratios

• Standard patient ratio experience of 1:4–6.
• Support for 2 locked Behavioral Health units in the Emergency Department with a ratio of 1:6.
• Behavioral Health units are supported by a security team.

Experience Requirements

• 3 years of Emergency Department experience is required.
• Consideration for candidates with 2 years of Level I or Level II trauma experience.
• Precepting and training experience is preferred.
• First-time travelers are accepted, provided they have the required Emergency Department experience.

Weekend Requirements

Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) is required.

Certifications Required

• ACLS, BLS, NIH, and PALS certifications are mandatory.
• Prophecy Relias Advanced Emergency Department assessment is required.
• 4 hours of annual stroke continuing education is required.
• CEN certification is preferred.

Floating Requirements

The nurse will be expected to float within the scope of practice to meet facility needs and may be required to float between similar units.

Scheduling

Block scheduling is not available for this position.

Licensure Requirements

A Maryland or compact RN license is required upon submission.

Time Off Restrictions

• Holiday coverage is necessary during the contract period.
• One pre-approved time-off request is permitted per contract.
• Requested time off must be included in the contract and discussed with management.

Unit Information

• The Emergency Department consists of 54 beds.
• Averages approximately 120 patient visits per day, accommodating neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Recognized as a Primary Stroke Center with Gold Plus status from the American Heart Association.
• STEMI patients may be transferred when cardiac catheterization intervention is necessary.
• Access to care-management and behavioral-health support.

Uniform Requirements

Scrub color is navy blue.

Charting System

The facility utilizes Cerner, with FirstNet and Launch for charting.

Shift Details

This position involves night shifts, working 3 x 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30.
