Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency nursing and possess the skills necessary to manage a variety of patient needs, primarily involving admitted patients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered care in the Emergency Department, ensuring adherence to best practices and procedural standards.
• Conduct medication administration, including IV medication, while following the seven medication rights.
• Document and communicate clinical findings to the healthcare team effectively.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure efficient department operations and patient flow.
• Participate in departmental meetings and continuing education to enhance professional development and accountability.
• Handle admits and patient care effectively, given the high volume of patients presenting in the ED.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1.5 years in an Emergency Department setting; Level 1 Trauma experience is preferred.
• Active RN license in the state of employment; pending licenses accepted at the time of submission.
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC.
• Strong preference for candidates with travel nursing experience.
• Willingness to work weekends and flexible shifts as needed.
• Floating to Pediatric Emergency Department is optional; floating to Adult Patient Care Units may be necessary based on staffing needs.

Working Conditions

• Shifts available: Night shifts of 4x12 hours.
• Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5.
• Expected to work two out of three holiday bundles: Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
• No local candidates within 100 miles will be accepted.

Additional Information

• No on-call duties required.
• 12-week assignments are available, with options for extensions subject to approval.
• A six-month break is required after working four consecutive assignments or reaching the one-year mark.
