Emergency Department Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Tacoma, WA

This Level II Trauma Center provides emergency nursing care for patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Schedule: 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights; available night shifts may include 3:00 p.m.–3:00 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Three of five major holidays
• Call: No on-call requirement
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, with the ability to flex to 1:5 for lower-acuity assignments
• Facility Setting: Level II Trauma Center with Level IV NICU
• Charting: Epic EMR

Emergency Department Travel RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington
• At least 1 year of strong Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not being considered for this assignment
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI/MOAB certifications
• Successful completion of the required traveler competency and telemetry examinations before the start date
• Proficiency with Epic clinical documentation is required
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV access, medication administration, and emergency assessment skills
• Ability to provide emergency nursing care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients presenting with trauma, sepsis, STEMI, stroke, DKA, respiratory conditions, chest pain, mental health concerns, and other emergency conditions
• Perform focused nursing assessments, prioritize care, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and provide appropriate interventions for cardiac emergencies
• Initiate and maintain IV access, administer medications and drips, and monitor patient responses
• Assist with procedural sedation and blood administration according to department protocols
• Support the care of high-acuity patients, including those requiring trauma and emergency stabilization
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Collaborate with emergency technicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, providers, and support staff to promote efficient patient flow and quality outcomes
• Complete department orientation, precepted shifts, and required competency validation before independently assuming the assignment
