Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. This role is critical in managing acute situations with all age ranges, from infants to geriatric patients. The RN will be responsible for evaluation, diagnosis, and care coordination for patients with varied and complex medical diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients in a timely manner, based on acuity.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to create and implement individualized care plans.
• Monitor patient conditions, intervene as necessary, and document care accurately.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (to be completed during onboarding).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certifications preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing is required; first-time travelers accepted.

Work Schedule

This position requires rotating night and evening shifts. RNs will typically work 3x12 or 4x12-hour shifts, primarily at night. Weekend work on a bi-weekly basis and holiday availability as scheduled is mandatory.

Patient Care

The RN will manage a patient ratio of 1:4, which may increase to 1:5 with lower acuity patients. The emergency room environment is busy, and the nurse must be adept at handling various medical emergencies in an efficient and compassionate manner.

Additional Information

Floating within the specialty and to sister emergency department facilities may be required as needed. This position does not require on-call duties.
