Schedule: Every other weekend; holidays as scheduled
Patient Ratio: 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity
Charting System: Epic 
Float Required: Yes – within specialty and ER Hold/Observation Unit
Call Requirement: No pre-scheduled on-call shifts
Note: Auto Offer; first-time travelers accepted with strong ED experience; 10-bed ER Hold/Observation Unit may have ratios of 1:5–6; all-age patient population.

Position Overview:

Provide emergency nursing care in a high-volume, fast-paced non-trauma emergency department serving patients from neonates through geriatrics, including medical, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and traumatic conditions.

Job duties:

• Perform rapid triage and comprehensive assessments for patients presenting with acute and complex emergency conditions.
• Initiate and maintain IV access, administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, blood products, and continuous IV sedation as clinically indicated.
• Manage respiratory emergencies including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, intubation support, and chest tube management.
• Monitor cardiac and neurological conditions, interpret dysrhythmias and 12-lead EKGs, and respond to acute deterioration.
• Provide care for psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal patients, drug overdoses, behavioral emergencies, and patients requiring psychiatric holds.

Requirements:
License: Active Maryland or Compact RN license required at submission.
Experience: 2 years of RN experience required; strong ED experience required; first-time travelers accepted.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI – required.
Other requirement: Community hospital experience required; must be comfortable floating within specialty, including the ER Hold/Observation Unit.

Patient Ratios: 1:4; up to 1:5 in lower-acuity assignments; Hold/Obs 1:5–6
Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: High-volume emergency presentations including respiratory infections, asthma, abdominal pain, CVA, drug overdose, suicidal/psychiatric emergencies, infections, poison ingestion, near drowning, and other complex medical and emergency conditions.
