Emergency Room RN Job Details

Emergency Department RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department / ER nursing experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Charge nurse experience required
• Recent Epic EHR experience within the past 2 years required
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to work rotating scheduling needs, including holidays and every other weekend
• Comfort with rural, critical access, or small-hospital emergency care preferred
• Reliable transportation is strongly recommended for this location

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to emergency patients ranging from newborn to geriatric populations
• Perform ESI triage, IV insertion, drips and infusions, EKGs, restraint application, procedural sedation support, and ambulance transports as needed
• Manage patient flow in a busy ED with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Support charge nurse duties and precept new nurses when needed
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and ancillary staff to deliver efficient emergency care
• Use sound clinical judgment when caring for patients who may require transfer to higher levels of care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment that prioritizes patient safety, responsiveness, and excellent patient care
