Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse opportunity available in a high-volume trauma center located in a healthcare facility. This role involves providing acute care to adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced environment, with responsibilities including triage, patient assessment, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. The position is scheduled for night shifts, offering an engaging experience in emergency medical services.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), PALS (American Heart Association); 2 years of ER or equivalent experience.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit notes include a pass/fail exam during orientation requiring at least 90% to pass, and candidates must be within 50 miles of the facility without any full-time, part-time, or PRN commitments with related facilities.
  • Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails for patient care staff.
  • The ER has 33 beds (25 adult, 8 pediatric) and includes 2 trauma bays; ER staff manage their own patient holds.
  • No separate triage or psych/seclusion rooms.
  • Clinical staff includes nurse aides, paramedics, ED techs, and patient sitters.
  • Equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow heated oxygen, and EKG monitors, with all rooms capable of cardiac monitoring.
  • Radologists share patient transport duties with ED staff; nurse draws are performed in 95% of orders.
  • No call or standby required; floating to pediatrics ER isRequired only to the pediatric ED.
  • Unit orientation lasts 1-2 days before independent practice.
  • Additional notes include a 13-week cancellation policy and charting via MEDITECH system.
