Job Summary:
The Nursing Professional Development Specialist I (NPDP I) position is based in Pleasanton, California. This role requires candidates to bring their nursing license on the first day. The NPDP I is a registered nurse with expertise in professional practice judgment, responsible for fostering continuous development and learning among nursing staff and healthcare team members. The position supports quality patient care through education, mentorship, change management, and leadership within a healthcare organization.

Job Details:

  • Location: Pleasanton, California
  • Shift Schedule: Days, 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited university, Masters in nursing with coursework in curriculum development, adult learning theory, learning needs assessment, and learning outcome measurement from an accredited college or university, CA-Registered Nurse (RN) license upon hire, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification upon hire, four (4) years of progressively responsible nursing experience including at least one year as a nurse educator or equivalent elsewhere
  • Responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and evaluating onboarding/orientation programs; assessing and supporting staff competency; designing and implementing educational initiatives; supporting professional role development; and fostering a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of adult instructional methods, current theories and practices in nursing, regulations, and healthcare policies; experience with clinical education programs and staff development; proficiency with healthcare computer systems and software
  • Additional Information: This role involves supporting clinical practice, evaluating staff performance and competency, and promoting a professional nursing environment.
