Join a dedicated team as a Registered Nurse specializing in Pre-Surgical Assessment at an outpatient clinic in Sandy Springs, Georgia. This role focuses on preparing patients for various surgical procedures by conducting thorough pre-operative evaluations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and readiness for surgery.
You will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, education, and coordination of care within a fast-paced clinical environment. This position offers an opportunity to work collaboratively with surgical teams, providing essential support to patients and their families prior to their procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive pre-operative health assessments, including medical history review, medication reconciliation, and allergy verification.
Perform physical assessments and interpret diagnostic test results relevant to surgical clearance.
Educate patients and their families on pre-operative instructions, post-operative expectations, and potential risks or complications.
Identify and escalate any potential patient safety concerns or contraindications for surgery to the appropriate medical staff.
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient preparation.
Accurately document all patient assessments, interventions, and communications in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Provide compassionate and patient-centered care, addressing patient questions and anxieties.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in pre-surgical assessment, PACU, critical care, or a related acute care setting.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
