Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care in a fast-paced ED environment
- Obtain patient history, record vital signs, and perform focused clinical assessments
- Initiate immediate, potentially lifesaving interventions independently when a physician is not present
- Provide skilled care to both acutely ill and nonacute patients, tailoring interventions to each need
- Perform a variety of nursing procedures and assist physicians with more complex interventions
- Process and follow up on physician/provider orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide clear discharge and follow-up instructions, ensuring patients and families understand next steps
- Answer ambulance radios and give appropriate prehospital care directions without assistance
- Participate actively in care planning and revise treatment plans to improve patient outcomes
Requirements
Qualifications
- Active Michigan RN license (LARA and/or Nursys verification required)
- Minimum 2+ years of ER nursing experience — required
- Active American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications — required
- Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification — required
- Active Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification — required
- Current skills checklist (within 1 year) relevant to ER practice — required
- Two supervisory reference forms from the past two years — required
- Comfort with Epic EMR and experience working in rural healthcare settings is a plus
- Travel experience highly preferred; facility will not consider candidates within a 100-mile radius of the site
