Description:
The competent Nurse practices independently in a clinical setting.
Demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation.
Provides routine and complex care with the ability to manage patient care effectively.
Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing.
Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage clinical situations.
Meets expectations of applicable competencies for leaders.
Utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
Administers medications and treatments according to appropriate protocols.
Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatment.
Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.
Identifies issues and resources to support patient care.
The department sees a high volume of stroke and STEMI patients.
Includes a trauma bay and fast-track beds.
Treats a variety of cases, including pediatric patients and those with psychiatric and geriatric needs.
