Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required License: State nursing license or compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, GSCC (can take onsite), EBRR (can take onsite) Must-Have: - Charge experience preferred - Epic charting system experience Description: Diagnoses include but are not limited to hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure, end-stage renal disease, coronary artery disease, abdominal pain, STEMI/NSTEMI, pulmonary embolism, COPD, and behavioral health issues. The nurse is expected to work every other weekend. No call requirement. Floating may be required within the facility/scope of practice. Full compliance is required to start on time; any non-compliance may result in a two-week delay. All required certifications and documentation must be submitted on time. Daily census is approximately 150 patients. Patient age groups include neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The staff is supported by various interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services. Travelers are expected to work one major holiday during their assignment and possible additional holidays based on the assignment period. Various emergency procedures and equipment management skills are required, including care of ventilated patients and management of multi-system organ failure. The nurse will handle emergency medications and procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Strong skills in phlebotomy and isolation precautions are needed. The nurse will manage dysrhythmias and violent behaviors as part of emergency care protocols. A minimum patient ratio of 4:1 is expected for both day and night shifts.
