Description:
This facility has 457 licensed beds and is designated as a Trauma Level III.
It is a teaching hospital and recognized as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence.
Travelers must be located 50 miles outside of their home unit.
The Emergency Department requires a minimum of 2 years of experience for Registered Nurses, with preference for candidates who are not first-time travelers.
Common patient types include those with trauma (such as GSW, stabbing, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, and patients needing fluid resuscitation or blood products.
Other common diagnoses include COPD, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health issues, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, infections, liver failure, and AKI/CKD.
Patient ratios are a maximum of 1:5, depending on acuity.
Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI, with TNCC preferred.
Skills required for the role include trauma experience, stroke experience, and the ability to interpret cardiac rhythms.
Travelers will be required to float to other facilities as needed within the region.
Floating mid-shift will be compensated for travel time.
Weekend rotations are expected every other week.
Travelers will work 75% of holidays.
Requests for time off may be approved for up to 6 days excluding holidays.
