Travel Nurse RN - Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma - $1,876 per week in Shreveport, LA

Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2+ years of recent ED experience License: California RN License Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS PALS CPI or MOAB Must-Have: Traveler must be willing to pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival. Traveler must be comfortable holding admitted patients in the emergency department and managing hall bed assignments. Traveler must be able to initiate IV starts, multitask for multiple systems, and continuously monitor patients. Traveler must have the ability to identify patient severity and anticipate care needs. Description: The emergency department has 21 beds. The department sees a variety of patient types, including newborns and geriatric patients. Common conditions include medical-surgical patients, respiratory distress, diabetes, GI bleeds, COPD, strokes (ischemic and hemorrhagic), and minor traumas such as MVAs and falls. The emergency department also serves patients with psych/mental health issues and substance use disorders. Daily visits range from 85 to 95. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3. A charge nurse may or may not carry a patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are available in the emergency department. A rapid response team is available if called. Clientist services are available upon patient admission. The nursing station includes telemonitoring capabilities. Charting is done using the Meditech Expanse EMR system. IV pumps used are Alaris and medication dispensing is done through Pyxis. Travelers will not be required to float to other units. Staffing includes a weekend rotation every other week. Nurses will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next, following a mandatory schedule. Travelers may request up to 7 days off, with restrictions on timing. Additional holiday work will be required, with expectations of working 2 or 3 holidays during the contract. Scrubs are to be pewter in color, with specific guidelines for T-shirts and jackets. Badges must be worn above the waist and visible at all times. The culture within the department is traveler-friendly.
