Job Title: RN - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience preferred License: Required RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI preferred, TNCC Must-Have: - Trauma experience - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Conscious sedation - PIV starts - Chest tube management - NGT placement - Drain/tube management - Critical care drips - Blood administration - Medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. The facility is a Level I Trauma teaching hospital with a designated Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The Emergency Department consists of 43 ED beds and 20 boarding beds. Patient types managed in the unit include trauma cases, stroke, heart failure, chest pain, respiratory illnesses, and GI disorders. The nurse-to-patient ratio is a maximum of 1:5, depending on acuity. Support staff includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists. Monitoring is done by nurses as there are no telemetry monitoring technicians. Traveling between facilities may be required and will be compensated. Work hours may include weekends and holidays as part of the scheduling expectations. RTO of up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays. Scrub color is navy.
