JOB DESCRIPTION
● About Facility:
· Albemarle, NC (about an hour from Charlotte, NC)
· 109 Licensed Beds
· No Trauma Designation
· Not a Teaching Hospital – no residents/students
· Advanced Primary Stroke Center
· Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Unit Information:
· Beds: 16
· Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years ED RN experience (Resource Team requirement)
· Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred – will consider
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
· Pediatric and Adult
· COPD, CHF, Chest Pain, MI, N-STEMI, Stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled DM, minor trauma
● Patient Ratios:
· RN: 1:4-5, based on acuity
● Required Licensure & Certifications:
· RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI – required; TNCC (preferred)
● Skills required:
· General ED skillset - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, Client Assessments, etc.
● Support within the Department:
· CNA
· Charge nurse: may or may not have patient assignment
· IV/VAT Team: Ancillary dept, but not in house every day
· RT, 24/7
· Hospitalist, 24/7
· ED Physician Team
· Bedside and Central Tele Monitoring
● Technology/Equipment:
· EMR: Epic
· IV Pump: Alaris
· Med dispensing: Omnicell
· Monitors: Phillips
· Unit specific equipment: General med-surg equipment and tele monitors
● Floating:
· Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
· Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
● Orientation (facility and unit):
· NEO
· 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
· Weekend rotation: every other
· No call
· Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
· RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
