Provides routine and complex care with the ability to manage long-range goals or plans. Develops the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies, demonstrating leadership qualities. Consistent with professional standards, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Utilizes appropriate protocols to administer medications and treatments. Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers. Identifies issues and resources as needed. All newly hired experienced nurses must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member. Initial onboarding requirements will be validated through successful completion of designated competency validations. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is expected.
