Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 Year Required License: Active compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: All previous permanent employees must be separated from any affiliated facility for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position. First-time travelers are not accepted. Travelers must be open to floating to different campuses. Weekends required: Every Other. Description: This position involves working in a dynamic emergency department environment. You will care for typical emergency department patients, including adult and pediatric cases. Experience with ambulance triage, ED holding, and lobby triage is essential. You will be responsible for managing 40 total beds, including 11 hallway beds and 29 main beds. Key duties include administering breathing treatments, performing chest tube set-up/care, and managing CPAP/BiPAP. You will oversee procedural sedation, rapid sequence intubation, trach care, and ventilator management. Blood and blood products administration is required. You will administer cardioversion/defibrillation and manage cooling/warming blankets. Experience with CRRT/dialysis, obtaining 12 lead EKGs, and rapid infusers is necessary. Shifts are scheduled six weeks in advance with various start times available. Patient ratio experience of 4-5 is preferred. Charting experience, especially with preferred systems, is beneficial. Expect to encounter diverse patient age groups including neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 115 patients. Interdisciplinary support services are available, including respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Preferred skills include biPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients. Candidates should have experience in trauma level I or II care and be proficient in various emergency department procedures.
