Registered Nurse (RN) - Long-Term Care & Skilled Nursing
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Lewiston, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive direct and indirect nursing care to a diverse patient population across specialized units, fostering a safe and therapeutic environment for all residents.
The facility encompasses a 31-bed unit specializing in Alzheimer's/dementia care, a 42-bed Transitional Rehabilitation Unit for short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation, and a 42-bed long-term care unit. The RN will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care tailored to individual needs, from managing complex behaviors in dementia patients to providing post-surgical rehabilitation and ongoing long-term support.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to residents in long-term care, skilled nursing, and specialized dementia units.
- Create and maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for all residents.
- Utilize effective verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, particularly with residents experiencing Alzheimer's/Dementia.
- Understand and manage difficult behaviors associated with Alzheimer's/Dementia, recognizing them as potential forms of communication.
- Administer IV therapy, perform wound care, and conduct geriatric assessments and management for rehabilitation patients.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and other care providers to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor resident conditions, document observations, and report changes to the appropriate medical staff.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of previous Registered Nurse (RN) experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team of care providers.
- Flexibility to cover shifts across a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week operational schedule.
- Ability to float to other units as needed to support patient care.
- Proficiency in understanding and managing challenging behaviors in residents with Alzheimer's/Dementia.
- Clinical skills in IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment.
