Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse for a 13-week night shift assignment in a Cardiac Step-Down and Telemetry unit located in Zanesville, Ohio. This role is critical for providing specialized care to a diverse cardiac patient population within a dynamic hospital environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive care of patients recovering from open-heart surgery, post-heart catheterization procedures, and those requiring cardiac drip management. The unit also cares for general cardiac and medical-surgical step-down patients, requiring a broad skill set and adaptability.
This position involves working 12-hour night shifts, totaling 36 hours per week, focused on delivering high-quality patient outcomes and collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to cardiac step-down and telemetry patients.
- Manage and monitor patients post-open-heart surgery and heart catheterization, including advanced cardiac assessments and interventions.
- Administer and titrate cardiac drips and other medications as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and therapeutic outcomes.
- Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret telemetry readings, responding promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions accurately and thoroughly in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Be prepared to float to other units within the facility as needed to support staffing requirements or manage fluctuating patient volumes.
- Demonstrate readiness and capability to care for ventilated patients in rare circumstances, should patient needs and staffing dictate.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent, acute care experience in a Cardiac Step-Down, Telemetry, or Open Heart Recovery unit.
- Demonstrated experience with post-operative open-heart patients.
- Proficiency in heart catheterization recovery protocols and patient management.
- Experience managing and titrating cardiac drips.
- Proficiency with Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: Night Shift (NOC)
- Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
- Days per Week: 3 days per week (36 hours total)
- Weekend Rotation: Typically every 3rd weekend.
- Holiday Coverage: Expected to cover 1 holiday per 13-week assignment.
- On-Call: No routine on-call required; however, the RN may be asked to take a rare call day based on fluctuating census or staffing needs.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks.
- Start Date: August 17, 2026.
Licensing Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
