Registered Nurse (RN) - Long-Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Lewiston, Maine. This role involves providing direct and indirect patient care within a dynamic long-term care and skilled nursing facility environment. The RN will collaborate with residents and an interdisciplinary team to foster a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic setting for diverse patient populations.
The facility encompasses specialized units, including a 31-bed unit dedicated to Alzheimer's/dementia care, focusing on tailored approaches, verbal and non-verbal communication, and understanding complex behaviors. Additionally, a 42-bed Transitional Rehabilitation Unit provides short-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for patients recovering from various conditions such as fractures, joint replacements, stroke, and other acute illnesses, often involving IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment. A 42-bed long-term care unit also provides a home-like environment for residents requiring extended care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive direct and indirect nursing care to residents across various units, including long-term care, skilled nursing, and specialized dementia care.
Collaborate effectively with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Utilize effective communication techniques, including verbal and non-verbal strategies, particularly when caring for residents with Alzheimer's/dementia.
Perform skilled nursing interventions such as IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment and management.
Monitor, assess, and document residents' conditions, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for all residents.
Respond to resident needs and emergencies promptly and efficiently.
Required Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Minimum of 1-3 years of previous Registered Nurse (RN) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Skills & Competencies
Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to adapt and float to other units as needed to support facility operations.
Demonstrated flexibility to work within a 24/7 operational environment.
Clinical proficiency in IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment.
Ability to understand and manage difficult behaviors associated with dementia.
Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Hours: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Licensing Requirements
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine or a compact state.
