Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (1800 to 0630) Experience: At least one year of Registered Nurse experience within the last 24 months. Acute critical experience within the last 12 months is preferred. License: Current license as a Registered Nurse in California. Certifications: Evidence of current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification. MICN desired to be completed within one year of hire. MICN, NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged and recommended. Must-Have: Basic computer skills. Description: Organizational Requirements: Commitment to the safety and wellbeing of all associates and patients is paramount. All associates are required to receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable. Medical and religious exemptions may apply. The position is represented by RCHEA. Job Summary: To define characteristics needed to perform successfully as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. Job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching above shoulders, sitting, walking inclines and declines, standing, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive hand motions. Vision requirement includes close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will occasionally pull, lift, transfer, or push a patient side to side, to a sitting position, to a standing position, or laterally. The employee must demonstrate a pull lift of 50 pounds from the floor. Potential exposure to blood and body fluids is present. The employee will handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise, and professional manner. Accurate nursing documentation must be maintained, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and critical skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret relevant age-specific needs. Prepares, administers, monitors, and discontinues IV fluids. Provides a professional environment and appearance while on hospital grounds and willingly performs other duties as assigned. Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements. Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition. Maintains compliance with expectations set by regulatory agencies. Monitors hemodynamic status of patients and interprets the results accurately. Conducts head-to-toe assessments on all patients and performs reassessments per policy. Demonstrates professional behavior and meets guest service expectations at all times. Must be able to float to other departments if oriented and if staffing needs arise. Rotational weekend coverage is required. Medication system and documentation systems are utilized effectively within the department.
