Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS, PALS, TNCC preferred Must-Have: Experience in similar hospital settings, acceptable for first-time travelers Description: Department: Emergency Room with 2 trauma beds and 2 clinic rooms. No separate triage area; triage occurs at the door. No separate holding or psych/seclusion rooms. Security is not in-house 24/7. On average, the department treats around 12 patients per day. Nurse to patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3. Staff typically includes 3 licensed personnel, 2 RNs and 1 LPN or RN. Required certifications include BLS with ACLS, PALS, and TNCC preferred. Common diagnoses include strokes, myocardial infarction, and trauma from motor vehicle collisions. There is no cath lab; critical patients are stabilized and shipped. Experience with common drips like insulin, pain management, and TPA is required. Mid-level or PA coverage is always available. Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are shared and can include patient assignments. Support staff includes 2 techs, an EMT, and paramedics for all shifts. Respiratory therapy is available during the day only, with paramedics handling vents after hours. Lab services are in-house 24/7, and RNs can draw off IV starts. Shifts are from 7 AM to 7 PM, with scheduling managed by management. Weekend and holiday requirements are based on contract obligations. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating is expected between departments as needed. Scrub color is flexible; no specific logos or prints are allowed. Unit-specific orientation includes one full business day and two 12-hour shifts of training. The charting system used is TruBridge - Evident. A BSN is not required.
