Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 6 months of trauma level 1 experience License: Licensed RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Competence in sterile field maintenance, Foley catheter insertion, and central line dressing change Description: New requirement: Manager will consider less than 2 years of experience. Candidates are required to pass a DYS exam prior to accepting the position. Candidates should be able to float between multiple facilities. Travel teams must have their own vehicles. Candidates must have natural hair color and no facial piercings. All candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing. Passing a day 1 exam is necessary with a study guide provided. All RNs will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for competency in specific skills. Expectations include maintaining a sterile field during procedures. Providing care in the trauma, burn, and pediatric patient populations is essential. The unit consists of acute and subacute beds, with specific trauma bays designated for care. Patient ratios are typically 1:4. The electronic medical record system in use is Cerner. Charge nurses will supervise and manage patient loads. Nurse aides will be available for support. Weekend shifts will be required as per unit discretion. Navy scrub color is required for all nursing staff. Telemetry and vent management protocols are in place. Pharmacy and respiratory therapy services are available 24/7. The unit accommodates various types of patients and commonly sees trauma and burn cases. Cancellation of shifts may occur as per established policies. Candidates will undergo training specific to floor operations and patient care. Common diagnoses include psych holds, among others.
