It operates as a Level II Trauma Center. The unit consists of 21 beds, including fast track areas. Patients in the fast track area may return to the waiting room if stable. Core staff typically handles triage, but travelers may take triage competencies after gaining experience. There are separate psych/seclusion rooms equipped with cameras. Security is in-house 24/7. A Charge Nurse oversees staffing and manages department throughput without taking an assignment. One or two ED techs are available per shift to assist with patient care tasks. Transport services for X-Ray or CT scans are available next to the ER. Registered Nurses draw labs unless phlebotomy services are requested. Shifts are scheduled with varied start times and include weekend and holiday responsibilities every other time. Floating is rare due to census and staffing needs.
