Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years minimum, Level I Trauma preferred License: New Mexico license can pend at time of submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC (must have TNCC prior to submission) Must-Have: - Previous Charge Experience Preferred - Trauma/Resuscitation experience preferred - Travel experience strongly preferred - Ability to start and maintain IVs Description: Travelers should expect their assignments to include and may consist primarily of admitted patients. No RQI certifications accepted. Currently seeing an increased number of admit holds. Approximately 60%-80% of the Emergency Department consists of admitted patients. Many of the ED rooms are designated for "ED Holding." Medication administration includes IV medication via the seven medication rights. Documentation and communication of clinical findings are essential. Ratios are monitored at 1:5. First-timers are accepted, but travel experience is strongly preferred. Travelers will be scheduled for weekends as needed. Weekend days are Saturday and Sunday. Weekend nights are considered Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Floating to Pediatric ED is optional. Floating to Adult PCUs is expected based on staffing needs. Floating to ED Holding and Trauma may occur as well. Block schedule accommodations are not available. Travelers scheduled may be asked to work weekends. Patient demographics include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Daily census ranges between 170-200 patients. The number of visits per day is approximately 175. Unit includes interdisciplinary support from various services. Bar Code Medication scanning is an expectation for all employees. Travelers without required certifications must complete an in-person training during orientation week. Six-month breaks are required after four consecutive assignments or at the one-year mark, whichever occurs first.
