Join a dynamic and fast-paced adult community Emergency Department in Columbia, Missouri. This role involves providing comprehensive emergency nursing care to a diverse adult patient population, handling approximately 25,000 cases annually within a 16-bed unit.
The ideal candidate will manage a nurse-patient ratio of 1:3-4, caring for patients presenting with conditions such as stroke, STEMI, sepsis, respiratory and cardiac diseases, and orthopedic issues. While the primary focus is adult care, there is minimal exposure to trauma or pediatric patients. This position requires strong clinical skills, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to team support in a high-admission environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an emergency setting.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for a variety of acute conditions including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and cardiac/respiratory emergencies.
Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs and continuous telemetry monitoring.
Initiate and manage intravenous access, PICC lines, and central lines.
Assist with and monitor patients undergoing procedural sedation.
Manage respiratory support equipment including CPAP/BiPAP and ventilators, and provide trach care.
Execute cardioversion and defibrillation procedures as required.
Maintain a safe and efficient patient care environment, adhering to a 1:3-4 nurse-patient ratio.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Demonstrate outstanding customer service and contribute positively to team dynamics.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri.
Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as an RN in an Emergency Department setting.
Proficiency in IV insertion and PICC/Central Line Management.
Competency in obtaining 12-Lead EKG, Telemetry Interpretation, and Cardioversion/Defibrillation.
Experience with Procedural Sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, Ventilator management, and Trach Care.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of experience in an Emergency Department.
Experience caring for patients with Chemical Dependency.
