Job Title: ER/Medsurg Swing RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ER Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of ER experience and previous Medsurg experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS preferred Must-Have: - Must have 2 years of ER experience. - Previous Medsurg experience is required. Description: The unit operates as a Trauma Level IV facility with STEMI receiving and Stroke designation. The emergency department treats an average of 10 patients per day. There are 4 beds and 2 trauma bays available for patient care. Patients are intermixed in the ER, with no separate holding area. Triage is not separated or required for travelers. There are designated psych/seclusion rooms within the facility. Security is not housed in the emergency room and is not available 24/7. An ED physician is typically present on each shift. A charge nurse is assigned every shift and also takes patients. Nurse aids, EMTs, paramedics, or patient sitters are available on call. Respiratory therapists are not in the ER 24/7. RNs are responsible for troubleshooting medical equipment. RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips. Phlebotomy services are provided by lab staff. The schedule includes rotating day and night shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. A weekend requirement is every other week, along with holiday coverage as needed. There is no call or standby requirement. Navy blue scrub color is required for RNs. Floating to Medsurg and Swing bed units is required. Additional time off requests must be submitted upfront and not approved afterward. The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted using the Point Click Care system.
