Registered Nurse - Emergency Room & Med-Surg Float
Job Summary
Join a dedicated nursing team at a healthcare facility in Alturas, California. This flexible Registered Nurse position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care across both the Emergency Room and Medical-Surgical units, adapting to departmental needs and ensuring comprehensive coverage.
The role involves caring for a diverse patient population, including adult, orthopedic, and pediatric patients on the Med-Surg floor, as well as critically ill and injured patients in the fast-paced Emergency Department. You will be an integral part of a collaborative environment, utilizing your clinical expertise to ensure optimal patient outcomes and contribute to a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients in the Emergency Room and Med-Surg units.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses and adjusting care plans as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and other departments to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Document patient care services accurately and timely in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide life-saving interventions as required, demonstrating strong critical thinking and decision-making.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to promote self-management and recovery.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse.
- Ability to float between Emergency Room and Medical-Surgical units based on departmental needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and departments.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and oral).
- Commitment to teamwork, patient confidentiality, and professional accountability.
- Adherence to facility dress code, including Caribbean Blue scrubs.

Licensing Requirements

- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification required within one (1) year of hire.
- Completion of a Sexual Harassment Prevention Training program with a certificate of completion prior to start date.
