- Line management (central lines)
Description:
3400 Union Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53801.
101 beds.
Level IV Trauma Center.
Primary Stroke Center.
General Information:
24-bed ED capacity with overflow beds.
Average ED patient volume ranges from 90 to 110 per day during busy periods.
Patient Types include:
10% Behavioral Health (Adults/Pediatrics)
25% Geriatrics
15% Pediatrics
50% Adults
Trauma cases include elderly falls, motor vehicle accidents, industrial accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, cardiac issues (STEMI, CHF), neurological events (strokes), respiratory conditions (RSV, failure, COPD), mental illness (suicidal ideation), and general medical issues.
Personal Protective Equipment includes:
Conventional PPE
N95 masks
PAPRs
Patient Ratios:
Routine days have a 1:3 ratio, flexible to 4-5 during high census.
If RN has critical care experience, a 1:2 ratio is the norm.
Support on the unit includes:
ED Techs with varying shifts to support nurse tasks.
Charge nurse available 24/7.
Triage nurse from 9 AM to 9 PM.
Various support staff including public safety, respiratory therapy, and hospitalists available around the clock.
Charting System/Equipment:
EPIC is required.
Tele-monitoring available at the bedside and nursing station without tele tech.
Floating:
Opportunities may arise to assist other units with hard IV sticks.
Registered nurses will not take patient assignments when floated outside of the ED.
Scheduling:
Every other weekend rotation, with a 4-week advance notice on schedules.
Must be available to work on holidays, covering two shifts as required.
Other Notes:
Scrub color should be professional.
The environment is fast-paced with high acuity.
Utilization is at 25%.
