Travel Nurse RN - Emergency Room (ER) / Trauma - $2,238 per week in Libertyville, IL

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Nursing Administration Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: 12hr Evening Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: IV starts, assisting with chest tube insertion, medication titration (pressors, insulin, sedation), trauma experience, stroke experience with TPA administration, US guided IV preferred Description: Overview of the facility includes a Level 1 Trauma Center with a Level II NICU and Magnet Designation. The facility has a total of 273 beds. The Emergency Department has 44 individual rooms, 10 hallway beds, and approximately 5 cardiac chairs. The average patient load is 150 patients per 24 hours. All Emergency Department patient types are treated from neonates to geriatric patients. Inpatients requiring pediatric care will be transferred as there are no inpatient pediatric units. Common patient conditions include stroke (TPA administration), DKA, trauma (GSW, MVC, elderly falls), geriatric psych issues, abdominal pain, COVID, and STEMI. There is a heavy behavioral health population. The department has capabilities for ICU holds. Patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 during the day, flexing to 1:6 at night. When fully staffed, the ratio is 1:3. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, with CPI/MOAB, TCRN, TNS, ENPC preferred. Skills required involve IV starts, assisting with chest tube insertion, and experience with trauma and stroke patients. Staff in the Emergency Department includes 5-7 techs during the day and 3 techs overnight. There is a charge nurse who may have a patient assignment overnight, although this is rare. RN responsibilities may include drawing most labs, but phlebotomy can be called for subsequent lab draws. ED techs are trained to add/remove telemetry from patients being admitted. Technology used in the department includes an EMR system. Orientation involves meeting with an educator, receiving a badge, and a tour of the hospital. Shifts include days from 7 AM to 7 PM, mids from 3 PM to 3 AM, and nights from 7 PM to 7 AM. A self-scheduling system is in place for creating schedules every 6 weeks. Required scrub colors for RNs are navy blue.
