- NIHSS experience (unable to obtain prior to start)
- TPA administration experience
- Blood administration experience
- Procedural sedation experience
- Code blue experience
- Strong triage experience is preferred
Description:
This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center and Level III NICU.
It is an advanced comprehensive stroke center and teaching hospital.
The Emergency Department has 35 beds and 6 fast track rooms.
On average, 168 patients are seen daily.
The patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics, covering all Emergency Department diagnoses.
There is a heavy mental health population.
Invasive neuro and STEMI cases requiring Cath Lab stabilization and transfer are common.
Trauma cases include but are not limited to gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls, and motor vehicle collisions.
Patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and night, acuity-based, and 1:6 in the fast track area.
Support on the unit includes a unit secretary and ED tech available 24/7.
The ED tech can draw blood and perform glucose checks.
The charge nurse may occasionally manage a lower acuity assignment based on staffing needs.
Phlebotomy may respond to trauma situations and assist with blood cultures or difficult sticks.
Respiratory therapy and physicians are available around the clock, along with mid-level providers and an ED educator.
Central and bedside telemetry monitoring is performed in this locked unit.
The charting system used is EPIC, and equipment includes Alaris and Pyxis.
Shift times are dependent on requisition and there is a weekend rotation every other week.
Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 4 major holidays or every other holiday.
Scrubs can be any professional color.
