We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ER RN) for a critical access facility located in Townshend, Vermont. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive emergency care within a small, rural community setting, serving a diverse patient population.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients presenting with a wide range of medical and trauma emergencies. This position requires an experienced ER RN capable of independent practice and critical decision-making in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation, for patients across all age groups in the Emergency Department.
Stabilize and manage critically ill or injured patients, utilizing advanced nursing skills and emergency protocols.
Administer medications, perform treatments, and operate medical equipment in accordance with physician orders and established standards of care.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of all patient care activities.
Educate patients and their families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Prior experience in an Emergency Department setting, preferably within a critical access or rural hospital environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse patient population and varying acuity levels.

Proficiency in emergency nursing procedures, including triage, wound care, splinting, and medication administration.
Competence in operating emergency medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, ventilators, and IV pumps.

Shift Details
Shift Type: Nights (NOC)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, typically 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
Days per week: 3 shifts per week.
Weekend Rotation: Expected to work some weekends as part of the regular rotation.
Flexibility: Required to be flexible and available to work occasional day or mid-shifts as needed to meet departmental demands.
Block Scheduling: Efforts will be made to accommodate block scheduling requests, but cannot be guaranteed.
Assignment Length: 12 weeks.

Licensing Requirements
Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Vermont.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
