Join the dedicated team at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York, as a Registered Nurse in our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This 64-bed unit, featuring 15 designated Neuro beds, specializes in providing comprehensive care for adult patients (18+ years) requiring close monitoring and advanced interventions.
The IMCU manages a diverse patient population with conditions including neurological disorders, cardiac issues, trauma, respiratory compromise (e.g., COPD), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), sepsis, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiovascular step-down, and post-operative recovery. This role offers an opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to adult patients (18+ years) within the Intermediate Care Unit.
Manage and monitor patients with complex medical conditions such as neurological disorders, cardiac conditions, trauma, respiratory distress (e.g., COPD), DKA, sepsis, MI, and post-operative care.
Operate and monitor specialized equipment including temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo.
Care for chronic ventilator-dependent patients, collaborating closely with Respiratory Therapy for optimal patient outcomes.
Accurately document all patient care, assessments, and interventions using the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Float to other units within the facility as required by patient census and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous travel nursing experience.
Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility.
Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking, excellent communication, adaptability, teamwork, ability to manage a diverse adult patient population, and effective time management.

Licensing Requirements
Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.

Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
