Description:
Department: Emergency Room
Trauma Level: Trauma Level IV, Acute Stroke Ready Client
Number of Beds/Trauma Bays: 2 ER rooms with 1 overflow room if needed
Fast Track: No, triage at bedside
Separate Holding Area: No
Psych/Seclusion Rooms: No
Security: 911 access for sheriff, not in-house 24/7
Average Number of Patients Treated in the ER/Day: 4-5
Nurse to Patient Ratio: 2 patients per nurse
Charge Nurse Responsibilities: Charge nurse is responsible for ER patients without an assigned patient load
Available Support Staff: CNAs from med/surg units available for assistance, EMS staff may be requested for help
Respiratory Therapy: No RT currently available; RN performs ABG, respiratory treatments, and EKG
Radiology Services: On-call after hours for x-ray and CT; transport may require assistance
Phlebotomy: Lab draws performed by phlebotomy staff, not RNs
Shifts & Scheduling: Self-scheduling with management oversight; Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend, potentially every third weekend
Holiday Requirements: Rotating every other holiday
Call or Standby Requirement: Low census on-call for extra shifts
Floating Requirements: May float to Med/Surg units
Scrub Color: Any color or pattern permitted, closed-toe shoes required
