Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Evening, Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in emergency room, with trauma Level I and II experience in the past two years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS; TNCC preferred Must-Have: Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in Emergency Room with Level I or II trauma experience Description: Start dates are not flexible. Must have at least two years of ER experience with trauma Level I and II in the past two years. If only experienced with Level III or lower, the clinician cannot be considered. The facility is an extension of a main campus ER, receiving Level II trauma, STEMI, and stroke patients. Patients requiring stroke intervention will be transferred as needed. Due to floating, the same requirements apply as with the main campus ER. There is a 100-mile radius rule in place. Epic EMR proficiency is required, and it should have been used within the last 5 years. No 48-hour guarantees or blocked scheduling requests are available. No more than five days of requested time off is allowed. The unit has 20 beds and two trauma bays. There are six fast track beds available. There are two separate triage areas utilizing ESI. ER holds are intermixed within the ER. There are no seclusion rooms within the facility. Security is present in-house 24/7, with an office located near the emergency department lobby. On average, the emergency room treats about 300 patients per day. Patient-to-nurse ratios are as follows: 1:5 for medical, 1:2-3 for UCY, and 1:6 for fast track. Common diagnoses include any and all emergency needs. Experience with gunshot wounds and stabbings is considered a bonus. Common intravenous drips are managed by ICU staff for patients requiring holds. Physicians and mid-level providers are present on various shifts. There is no charge nurse on each shift; however, a house supervisor can assist if needed. Emergency department technicians with two years of experience are available for support. Respiratory therapy is present in the ER 24/7 for procedures such as ABGs and nebulizer treatments. Dedicated X-ray and CT services are available within the department, and a transport team is in place for critical patients. ED technicians handle lab draws, while RNs may also draw from IV starts. Varied shift start times are available, with modified self-scheduling practices in place. Weekend requirements include four weekend shifts per four-week block. Holiday requirements typically include two of the five available holidays. Floating between facilities is managed with advanced scheduling, with infrequent last-minute changes. Scrub color is navy blue. Onboarding includes one day of clinical training and one day on the floor. Cancellation policies include client cancellations equivalent to weekly guaranteed hours for assignments. The charting system is Epic. A BSN is not required.
